ABOUT EHCEC

EHCEC is the regional development anchor for East Harris County.

We build systems.
We move fast.
We measure outcomes, not activity.

There is no playbook for this work.
This region has been underserved for decades.
You are not stepping into a polished system — you are helping to build it.

EHCEC does not run disconnected initiatives or transactional efforts. We build institutional systems that move capital, partnerships, and communities from fragmentation to alignment.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Regional transformation fails when growth is person-dependent.

Without a strong growth system:

  • Revenue relies on individual relationships

  • Staff burn out

  • Partnerships remain transactional

  • Growth creates strain instead of capacity

The Chief Growth Officer exists to solve this problem.

This role designs and steers EHCEC’s financial growth engine — ensuring the organization can raise and sustain millions without reliance on any single person, while protecting mission integrity, staff capacity, and long-term sustainability.

This is a systems leadership seat, not a traditional fundraising role.

THE ROLE

The Chief Growth Officer is the architect of EHCEC’s growth engine.

This is not a role defined by hustle, volume, or personal heroics.
It is a general management seat focused on systems design, leverage, and repeatability.

The Chief Growth Officer builds structures that:

  • Attract aligned capital

  • Support multi-year investment

  • Reduce strain on staff and leadership

  • Allow the organization to confidently say “no” to misaligned money

Success in this role is measured by durability, not noise.

PROGRAM SCALE & FINANCIAL SCOPE

The growth system stewarded by the Chief Growth Officer is expected to:

  • Generate $1.5M+ in multi-year, renewable investment over time

  • Support workplace giving across 15+ employers

  • Operate through force multiplier structures rather than one-to-one fundraising

  • Enable corporate renewals with minimal executive lift

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

1. Growth Capital Architecture

  • Design and steward EHCEC’s long-term growth strategy

  • Build capital systems rather than person-dependent pipelines

  • Establish structures that support renewal and alignment

  • Protect the organization from funding that compromises mission or capacity

  • Partner with the CEO on growth-related tradeoffs

2. Corporate Impact Platform

  • Own and steward EHCEC’s unified corporate investment approach

  • Build multi-year corporate partnerships that integrate:

    • Executive investment

    • Workplace giving

    • Brand alignment

    • Workforce alignment

  • Eliminate fragmented and duplicative asks

  • Ensure a consistent, institution-level corporate experience

3. Workplace Giving System

  • Architect a scalable, employer-based giving model

  • Build peer-driven leverage rather than staff-dependent campaigns

  • Support workplace giving across 15+ employers

  • Develop structures that reduce reliance on individual hustle

4. Force Multiplier Design

  • Build and steward external leverage structures, including:

    • Peer investor groups

    • Employer leadership tables

    • Trusted intermediaries

  • Shift growth from person-dependent to system-dependent

  • Ensure growth can continue without reliance on any single individual

5. Brand & Narrative Stewardship

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Director of Marketing & Brand

  • Protect EHCEC’s institutional voice and credibility

  • Ensure brand and narrative support long-term trust and investment

  • Align public-facing materials to growth strategy

6. Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team

  • Bring a capital lens to enterprise decisions

  • Partner with executive peers to ensure growth aligns with capacity

  • Surface risks early and protect organizational health

7. Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead the Resource Development Department

  • Build systems that reduce burnout and eliminate hero culture

  • Develop leaders and clear ownership across the growth function

  • Reinforce a low-ego, accountability-driven culture

WHO THIS JOB IS FOR

✅ A systems thinker who thrives in complexity
✅ A generalist leader with strong judgment
✅ Someone energized by building what does not yet exist
✅ A low-ego executive comfortable transferring ownership
✅ A leader motivated by long-term institutional impact

WHO THIS JOB IS NOT FOR

A transactional fundraiser
A hero-driven or hustle-oriented leader
Someone seeking personal credit
A subject-matter expert who wants to execute tactics
Anyone uncomfortable with ambiguity or shared ownership

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 8–12+ years of leadership experience in growth, partnerships, or institutional development

  • Proven experience building systems, not just closing deals

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and white space

  • Strong judgment and executive presence

  • A low-ego, team-first leadership style

Content expertise is not required.
You are hired to build and steward systems, not execute every task.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (30 / 60 / 90 DAYS)

First 30 Days

  • Build a deep understanding of EHCEC’s mission, backbone role, and growth philosophy

  • Assess existing revenue streams, partnerships, and growth-related systems

  • Understand where growth is person-dependent versus system-supported

  • Gain clarity on current priorities, risks, and opportunities

First 60 Days

  • Design a clear growth architecture that aligns with EHCEC’s strategy and capacity

  • Clarify how corporate investment, workplace giving, and leverage structures fit together

  • Identify opportunities to reduce fragmentation and misaligned funding

  • Align brand and narrative with growth strategy in partnership with the Director of Marketing & Brand

  • Begin shifting ownership of growth from individuals to systems

First 90 Days

  • Stand up core growth systems and decision-making structures

  • Launch early system improvements that reduce reliance on individual relationships

  • Demonstrate momentum toward multi-year, renewable investment

  • Reduce executive and staff strain related to growth activities

  • Establish confidence that growth can scale without heroics
